Marsupials are pouched mammals like kangaroos and opossums. An infant marsupial is known as a joey and when they are born, they are blind and must crawl their way into their mothers pouch. The joey spends several months inside the pouch to develop. Many marsupials can be found in Australia. Animals like kangaroos and koala bears are common there.

Marsupials are often studied in a science curriculum as well as many other mammals. The curriculum often consists of science vocabulary words that relate to marsupials. In addition to vocabulary, teachers include games and puzzles in the curriculum. Using these games about marsupials helps students to be more engaged in the material.
